The wonders of ADSL

You just got to love the Asymmetric in ADSL. Working from home building a new B3 test kernel trying to debug the problems people are seeing with the Excito B3 crashing/dropping Internet connection.

Doing this upload, ~100MB, completely saturates my uplink. The big problem with this is that it makes “all” of the 16Mb/S downstream completely unusable since all TCP acks has to compete with my upload, making even things like listening to streaming music etc a no go.

Time to think about traffic prioritizing in the B3 router. I wonder if the other router manufacturers have this by default? Or better yet, cross fingers and hope for a fiber connection to our house. There are talks of this in our area so one can at least hope that people would understand that this would be a good thing.
